VIDEO: D. MARSH.
“Content
and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is an educational approach where some
content learning (like a topic on global climate, or a subject) is taught in an
additional language (such as English language in Korea). It is a single
educational approach which involves very different models.”
The video of David Marsh is very
interesting because talk about how the different schools introduce the second
language method, so it is very useful because that topic is common in all the
Spanish school.
The teachers need to know how to use in a
better way the methodologies for teaching a second language and accelerate the
learning of content, language at the same time, having fun.
He also talked about the CLIL method and
explains some situations where this method work in a very good way, so I saw
that teaching like that is possible. To get this is necessary that the teachers
working together in spite of ages or groups. Teachers usually find
themselves dealing with mixed-ability classes in terms of language proficiency,
and other factors. This is one reason why CLIL methods reach out to cover a
broad range of learning style preferences.
On another hand, D. Marsh explains how CLIL
helps to enhance other methods of language teaching and it is very interesting
to see how this method is a support of traditional teaching, and every teacher
is be able to work on that, only is necessary have a vocation for teaching and
want to remain energized.
So, after that video, I know more about
ClIL and I want to investigate what methodology is better for teaching a second
language in primary school because nowadays all schools are looking for be
bilingual and this is quite difficult in a country like Spain.
